I keep saying I’m going to dive in and do this newsletter thing the right way. And by that I mean, actually doing it. Ya know… regularly. Here’s to hoping this time it will stick! Well, anyway…
Lately….
I could try to catch you up on everything I have posted online since the last time I did one of these, but that would just be silly. So, I’m going to start fresh right here with the most recent items, which should then lead you down the rabbit hole of all my other fairly recent content. It’ll be fun- like a scavenger hunt!

Thoughts on Life & Insider Deets- Just for You!
“Oooo! Mom! What are these?!”
This was the excited line Roman exclaimed when he saw a package of Target Dollar Spot cable organizers laying on the side table in my bedroom. I kid you not. It was quickly followed by-
“I didn’t know you were into cable management!”
Me, stifling a laugh, “Honey, you say that as if it’s a hobby. And, for your information, no I’m not into ‘cable management.’ I bought them for you.”
With ridiculous joy emanating from his face, “Really?! Let’s goooo! How did you even know that I was into cable management?”
“Well, bud, you may have mentioned a time or two how you like to organize all your gadgets and gaming setup.”
Oh, the simple joys.
But in all seriousness, this kid turns 15 in less than a month. How did that happen? How is he old enough to have a full-on gaming setup that requires “cable management” in order to be presentable for his YouTube channel? How is that even a sentence that pertains to my life?
Well, it is. And ya know what? I’m loving it. Teenage-hood certainly has its low points (hello testosterone!) but the joy in having REAL conversations, the shared interest in the same shows, movies, and podcasts, the inside jokes and knowing looks when younger siblings are acting a fool- these are the glory days of parenting.
As we near entering this final year before he has exponentially more independence with a driver’s license, I am learning about letting go… a bit. I’m stepping out in allowing him some freedoms with his friends. (Ok, in all honesty, I send him to his best friend’s house where they are really good at allowing the freedoms, and I just squeeze my eyes shut, cover my ears, and go “la, la, la, la, la,” real loudly, pretending it’s not happening!)
Yes, these next few years will require a lot of deep breathing. I’m feeling the need for many a restorative yoga class in my future. But at the same time, it is an honor and a pleasure to watch him encounter these rites of passage.
And that is one of the big reasons why Katie and I are going to pour so much of our focus in April’s content into talking about mothering teens, especially boys. We are going to talk about honoring how far they’ve come, celebrating them, and even discussing how important our friendship has been in helping each other through this process of raising teens. We by no means have all the answers, but we are loving it. (We even interviewed these witty boys for a Mini episode coming out soon in Patreon- it is pure magic and hilarity!)
Last but not least…
And the last little insider deet that I am going to slip in here, right at the end, for all you stalwart folks who made it this far, is the fact that I am currently in the process of writing a book! This has been a life-long dream for me and many of you have asked about it over the past few years. Well, it’s finally happening!
This past month I actually sat down with an agent and put together an entire publisher-ready book proposal! What?!? Yes! I can’t believe it myself. We currently plan to shop the book to publishers this summer! But until then, here and in Patreon are the only places you will hear me talk about it! I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride!
And hey- 5 gold stars to all of you who read to the very end! I would issue you a knighthood if I had the ability.
Now- it’s your turn! Weigh in in the comments to share all your thoughts and favorite recent content from around the interwebs or your life in general. Let’s chat below!
I love this! I have 3 girls that are 21, 19, 17 and one lonely boy that is 13 and I have no clue how to be a teen boy mother- the podcast last week helped me out so much- I am already watching the Marvel movies and shows with him and it has really helped our relationship, the podcast backed up my decision and made me feel like I am doing better than I thought as a boy teen mom
Loving all the content and thrilled not only about the feedback you’ve been getting back so far on your book proposal but also the chapters themselves!! Guys, this book is one everyone is going to want to have.
