The Short of It
Bri McKoy was on the Podcast and she was absolutely delightful!
Did you catch this episode of the podcast with stylist Keri Blair?!
I am currently booking new local clients for Lash Extensions!
At Long Last, School is Back!
It is FINALLY the first week of school in the Pacific Northwest! The kind man at Trader Joe’s yesterday asked me what I had been up to this weekend. I told him I’d been planning and prepping for the new year of school. Then he asked me if I had anything fun planned for today (Monday- Labor Day), to which I of course replied, “Planning and prepping for the new school year!”
Because I am a weirdo.
While, yes, it is a lot of work, there is something so energizing to me about figuring it all out and getting everything in place. My girls had to be completely ready by this past Friday and we did it all! Backpacks were complete with Klenex, glasses cleaner, and cough drops. We had cut hair, painted nails, shaped brows- the works! There were pep talks, long discussions about middle school and lockers… I tried to leave no stone unturned. They were as ready as they could be while not on my watch. (Which is always heartbreaking but we do our best and keep moving forward.)
Once they were gone I firmly settled into the rest of the things on my list:
Cleaning out & organizing the pantry & fridge
Putting away allllllll the laundry
Meal Planning for the whole month of September (which I accomplished and you can view at plantoeat.com/livewell if you’re my friend on PTE- however, warning, this meal plan contains lots of nights of leftovers! 😬)
Meal & Snack Prep (which I will actually be doing LIVE today on IG!)
Finalizing our routines & schedules
Getting ahead on work
I know it won’t ALL get done, but by the end of tonight I will have made a sizable dent in what I wanted to have accomplished to get this year rolling and that feels nothing short of magical!
I know many of you have already started, but where are you at in your school year? How’s it going so far?
LOCALS!!
If you are local and are interested in getting lash extensions (or you know anyone who is), I would love to connect with you! Starting this week I will officially be accepting clients out at Loft 41 in Post Falls, ID. I am so excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to hopefully meet some of you in person!
I am running extremely discounted back-to-school deals and also give a 50% discount on lash fills for each referral made. Thank you for helping me spread the word and I hope to meet you soon!
Currently Reading
The long awaited conclusion to the American Royals Series was released last Tuesday and I am about 20% in. I’ve been waiting for a year to finish this series (as I know many of you have as well!) and so far I’m still in the “everything is unravelling” stage of the book. I HOPE it comes together in a tidy conclusion because I am a sucker for things being wrapped up in a satisfying bow!
We will be having a book club over in Patreon on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30pm PDT for all of you who are interested!
Also, since I will be in my car much more now that I will be working out of the house (and in another state! 😂) I plan on listening to a lot more audiobooks. I have a few on my list that I plan on finishing in the next few weeks:
All the Light We Cannot See (literally started 6 years ago but now that it is being released as a series I feel like I should probably wrap it up!)
Killers of the Flower Moon (started a couple of months ago but bailed because it was stressing me out, however, I would really like to finish it before the movie is released next month)
Two Weeks Notice by Amy Porterfield (also started earlier this year and then just got sidetracked and didn’t finish)
A Court of Thorns & Roses (I’ve tried picking this up to actually read it a couple of times and lose interest very quickly. I’m thinking that maybe I’d be able to get more into it if I switch to audio)
Creativity, Inc (also started listening to a couple of years ago and am planning on having it serve double duty towards my Kindle Challenge reading goal)
I’ll Have What She’s Having: How Nora Ephron’s Three Iconic Films Saved the Romantic Comedy (I’ve been reading this on my kindle for, approximately, ever. So, again, I think switching over to audio will help me just finally get it read.)
So, yeah, now that I look at that list I realize that that is about elevendy-hundred hours of listening, but hey, I’ll do my best and check back in at the end of the month!
I have lots more content planned for this fall, so hang in here with me and we’ll have a good time talking about planning, beauty, style, reading, and life in general! It’s going to be a good time!
Well, anyway,
MacKenzie
